Our new kitchen is almost finished. Wow, what a project this was. Luckily my good friend, who happens to be the world's best handy-woman, came to stay with us for a few weeks to be our live-in contractor. She did an amazing job! And survived living with the Lottes clan for 3 weeks which deserves a medal on it's own. My ideas for the kitchen changed several times once we finally got into the house to see it. In the end we decided to take out a bit of the wall between the livingroom and kitchen to open things up a bit. That was fun. Then we tore out the entrance-way which was blocking the stairs to the 2nd floor. And then painted and replaced the cabinets. It took us around 2 1/2 weeks. It was a little stressful sometimes with the kids trying to live in the middle of it all. But Robin seemed to enjoy watching everything come together. Anyway we've painted all of the downstairs and will start working on the upstairs during the holidays. There is a lot of wood floor that needs to be sanded and also a lot of crazy wallpaper that needs to be torn off.
