Kids Dog Sledding

On Tuesday Page, Dawn and I took the grade 3 class out for a dog sled ride. Last week Page and I brought a couple of dogs and sleds into the school and did a demonstration on how to harness a sled dog and the differences between Northern and Southern sleds. There were 22 kids so we split them up and headed out with 10 dogs on each team. It was a little chilly and there was a bit of a ground blizzard but the kids are tough and used to it and I didn't hear any complaints. They were all really well behaved and everyone had a good time...including the dogs who got a nice treat after the ride.

The men will be racing Friday afternoon and will finish on Sunday. I'll be out videotaping and photographing and helping John and Steve out with the dogs.

This morning I took Mika and Nanook out for a 10km skijoring run. We went out onto the sea ice and right around to the other side of town and then cut across the lake to get home. It was nice but being pregnant I think I'm a bit out of shape.
